A tradition of neighbors helping neighbors

Forest View Volunteer Rescue Squad, Incorporated, located in Richmond and Chesterfield County, Virginia was formed in 1955 to provide emergency care, improve human life, and build healthier communities. In recognition of this commitment, we strive to deliver high quality, free pre-hospital emergency medical care and rescue services to the citizens of the City of Richmond, Virginia and neighboring Chesterfield County. In addition, we strive to teach methods of safety to the communities we serve.
In pursuit of our mission, the following values as relevant, essential and timeless:
- We recognize and affirm the worth and value of each and all persons.
- We treat all those we serve with skill, compassion and kindness.
- We act with absolute integrity, honesty and fairness in the way we provide our services and in the way we live our lives.
- We trust our colleagues as valuable members of our healthcare team and we pledge to treat one another with loyalty, respect and dignity.
- We enter into and maintain a volunteer commitment with this organization - with emphasis on “commitment” - fully knowing and recognizing that this organization and our communities rely on our diligence of service to properly fulfill our mission.
With over 125 volunteers, we staff three stations (one on Forest Hill Ave in the City of Richmond and two on Midlothian Turnpike in Northern Chesterfield County) and provide volunteer 911 care from 6pm-6am weekdays and 24 hours on the weekends. Our members are state and national registered Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics who operate under a medical director’s license. Most of our active members commit to volunteering 12 hours a week for 52 weeks a year. We deploy state-of-the art ambulances and equipment, are known throughout Virginia for our high-quality training programs and, as such, are on the cutting-edge of emergency medical care. Forest View not only provides free emergency care to the communities we serve but also does not provide any compensation whatsoever to our members who serve with us. We are truly VOLUNTEERS.
